Feast On Local Food and Drink At Knightor

Knightor Classic Cuvee MedRes

Knightor Winery is offering a series of summer food and drink events, delivered in unique vineyard and winery settings.

Events include a cheese and wine evening at Knightor’s Portscatho Vineyard on the Roseland Peninsula, and a feast night featuring local cider at the Winery near St Austell.

Adrian Derx, Owner of Knightor Winery, said: “We are really keen to emphasise the connections and natural affinity between locally-made, artisan food and drink products, including our own wines.”

He added: “The Portscatho Vineyard and our Winery at Trethurgy and are great places for feasting and celebrating, and we are looking forward to bringing people together this summer to showcase fantastic Cornish food and drink.”

On the 20th July, cheesemaker and all-round fromage fanatic Thomas Hanson of Hanson Fine Foods will be hosting a cheese and wine evening at Portscatho.

The vineyard, which is one of two in Cornwall owned by Knightor (the other is at Seaton), occupies a picturesque spot on the Roseland Peninsula, with great views of the surrounding countryside.

The event kicks off at 5.30 with a tour of the vineyard, followed by a tasting featuring some of Cornwall’s best-loved cheeses, paired with wines by Knightor’s expert sommeliers (£20 per head).

For those who want to linger in the vineyard for longer, a two-course supper featuring a host of prime Cornish ingredients will be served for £17 per head; details can be found on the Knightor website and dietary requirements can be catered for.

The cheese and wine evening begins six weeks of open vineyard events at Portscatho; tours, tastings and food will be available every Wednesday and Thursday until Thursday 18th August.

Meanwhile, back at the Winery near St Austell, Fowey Valley Cider will be taking over on 12th August for a cider-themed feast.

Starting with a welcome cider cocktail at 6.30 in the courtyard, guests will move through to the barn for a five-course feast including local seafood, vegetables, pork, and herbs from Knightor’s kitchen garden; each dish includes Fowey Valley Cider products – from cider vinegar to olive oil.

The cider feast is £30 per head, with an optional wine flight available for an additional £18.
