Alpine Feast at Scarlet Wines

Alpine Feast at Scarlet Wines

This autumn and winter, the team at Scarlet Wines will be serving up a series of feast nights, combining regional flavours from around the world with wines chosen to match. These great value evenings will be a chance to enjoy heart-warming food in a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly hosts and a roaring wood burner to accompany each tasty mouthful and flavoursome sip.

“The setting at Scarlet Wines really comes alive at this time of year. There is something quite indulgent about hunkering down here with a robust glass of red wine on a winter’s night,” explained Jon Keast, owner and resident wine aficionado at Scarlet. At £15 a head, each feast night will involve a hearty regional dish packed full of flavour, and a glass of wine to match, with optional extras available to purchase.

The first ‘Scarlet Feast Night’ on 24th October will appeal to anyone dreaming of mountains and fresh powder at this time of year, as Jon and his chefs take guests on a gastronomic journey to the mountainous Savoie region of France. “This is the land of rich alpine flavours,” enthuses Jon, who will be pairing whites and reds from Savoie itself to go with the food on this occasion. “Savoie whites are textured and rich, whilst the reds are surprisingly fresh with a whiff of mountain air. Both of course work superbly with regional dishes such as creamy Tartiflette, as one has grown up with other.”

Scarlet Wines is known for its inventive wine list which champions experimental winemakers, over-looked regions and off-beat styles. The feast nights will explore creative connections between wine and food and, as well as the glass included, there will be a selection of bottles to purchase at one-off prices.

Bookings are now being taken for the Savoie feast night. Spaces are limited and expected to fill up fast. Further evenings are planned – for more info see www.scarlet-wines.co.uk. To book call 01736 753696.
