Chef Ben Quinn – co-founder of Woodfired Canteen – will be appearing at a major UK food event for the second time in a month, when he takes part in Meatopia at London’s Tobacco Dock on Sunday 3rd September.

Having just returned from cooking the opening night banquet at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire, Ben and his team are taking Cornish produce on the road once again – this time to vie with other chefs from around the world who specialise in cooking over fire.

Described as a festival “of high quality, ethically sourced meat, all cooked over ethically sourced wood and charcoal by some of the world’s leading top chefs,” Meatopia is a hugely popular event in the heart of trendy East London.

Chefs travel from as far as South Africa, Argentina and Spain to take part, cooking signature dishes in taster sizes so that guests can graze their way through a succession of meaty courses.

Ben will be serving smoke roast chicken thigh, grilled aubergine with chilli and mint, and chipotle raisins.

He commented: “I love this event as it brings together so many like-minded chefs, all of whom are really passionate about what they do. It’s a chance to see new techniques in action, exchange ideas and plan future collaborations.”

Woodfired Canteen is a Cornwall-based company which specialises in unique dining experiences including ‘Flash Feeds’, ‘Lazy Smoky Sundays’ and collaborative events with the likes of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and The Cornish Food Box.

Cornish foodies have a regular opportunity to experience Ben’s food for themselves every Tuesday and Thursday at West Beach Bakery in St Ives, where Woodfired Canteen hosts set-menu suppers overlooking the beach.
