New HQ For Cornwall-Based Experience Dining Company

Ben and Sam Quinn – the couple behind one of the UK’s leading ‘experience dining’ companies – have opened their new Cornish HQ to the public, giving everyone a chance to sample their much-admired menus and make use of the shared workspace.

Woodfired Canteen have become famous for hosting memorable meals in unique locations; remote clifftops, tropical gardens and rustic barns have all be the scene of their epic culinary adventures.

Their colourful, wholesome food led to Woodfired Canteen being asked to open the Banqueting Tent at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire last year, where the team served over 300 hungry festival-goers.

Now Ben and Sam have launched Canteen at Wheal Kitty Workshops, St Agnes – a site they share with Cornish brands Finisterre and Walters Surfboards, and environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage.

Open from 8:30am every week day, Canteen is a prep kitchen and meeting space, where visitors can grab a coffee and try a plate of Ben’s celebrated food.

Each day the team can be found hard at work, crafting seasonal, wholesome menus for weddings and other events; whatever they are cooking at the time forms the daily menu at Canteen.

Ben explained: “Canteen is the mothership of our business – it’s the place where boxes of fresh fruit and veg arrive daily to be prepped, where we generate ideas for events and menus, and where we meet our clients and collaborators.”

Sam added: “The day starts with a proper coffee and cinnamon buns courtesy of our friends at Da Bara Bakery. From breakfast onwards, freelancers drop in to work and meet – it’s a lively space with a great community feel.”

Come lunchtime anyone who wants a plate of whatever the kitchen is prepping can tuck in for just £5; there is always one meat and one veggie option, and dishes are seasonal and satisfying.”

Canteen also plays host to in-house events, and a busy schedule is planned for 2018 including cookery workshops, a cook book club, weekend brunches and their now famous ‘Flash Feeds’ and ‘Taco Tuesdays’.

The roving arm of the business, Woodfired Canteen, will continue to host sell-out events in other locations, while Woodfired Weddings offers couples and their guests something a bit different on the big day.
