All Hallows Weekend promises seasonal fun for all the family

The Driftwood Spars at Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes, is gearing up to host a cosy seasonal gathering to celebrate Halloween, with a few spooky surprises thrown in.

Taking place 27th – 29th October, the event is free to attend aside from a ticketed Comedy on Tap session on Saturday 28th featuring Jarred Christmas (Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week, Russell Howard’s Good News).

Throughout the weekend, everyone is welcome to call in for movie screenings, a guest beer bar, live music and more, while converted shipping container The Crib Shack will be serving a warming array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot chocolates.

The family-friendly event includes a children’s fancy dress competition and a prize for the best pumpkin carving; simply bring along your pre-carved pumpkins and drop them off at The Crib Shack where they’ll go on display – the best carving will win a voucher to be spent in the pub.

Landlady Louise Treseder said: “Families will love our daytime offering during All Hallows Weekend. Go wild with the fancy dress, enjoy our child-friendly movie and popcorn marathon, indulge in a tasty hot chocolate, and don’t forget to bring your pumpkin creation along and enter it in the competition. They’ll also be some fun spooky specials on the menu for everyone to enjoy!”

A mini autumnal beer festival adds to the enticement for grown-ups, with a large selection of the brewpub’s own seasonal small batch brews and ten guest beers chosen from around the UK.

Head Brewer Mike Mason said: “We’ve chosen a good range of guest beers to complement our own selection – four in cask and six in keg from some of our favourite small breweries. We’ll also be holding tastings and also showing small groups around the microbrewery throughout the weekend.”

Fans of handcrafted beer should look out for The Driftwood Brewery’s own seasonal specials, including Ore – a decadent and sweet caramel stout, and Polberro which is made using undried wild hops.

The brewpub will also be serving seasonal specials showcasing local produce throughout the weekend alongside hearty pub classics, providing perfect autumnal nourishment.

The fun carries on late into the October evenings, with grown-up horror films (ID may be requested) comedy from Jarred Christmas (early booking recommended) and music from The Bluestealers and The Tinnies, both of whom are known for banging out some epic tunes.

On Sunday 29th, All Hallows Weekend comes to a close with The Driftwood’s legendary Sunday Lunch, and local Sea Shanty group Stuns’ls performing from 3pm.

Louise said: “All Hallows Weekend is the perfect way to mark the change of season. Come and enjoy good food, beer, and company in cosy surroundings, with some great entertainment for all ages. You’ll be fully ready to embrace autumn after a weekend in our lovely old brewpub by the sea!”

Table bookings for lunch and dinner recommended throughout the weekend. Tickets for Comedy on Tap with Jarred Christmas can be purchased here. For more info on All Hallows Weekend keep an eye of The Driftwood Spars social media feeds.
