Collaboration between local businesses has resulted in an extensive programme of events and activities for all ages and interests at Sennen Cove this summer – making the journey to the far west even more worthwhile.

Ben Tunnicliffe Sennen Cove, a restaurant, events venue and bar which enjoys unrivalled views across the bay, will be the hub for a host of regular and one-off events designed to appeal to the local community and visitors alike.

Chef and restauranteur Ben promises something for everyone over the course of the season, saying: “From surfing to yoga, music to food, there will be plenty of reasons to spend time in this beautiful part of Cornwall – as if you needed any excuse!”

For starters, Ben will be teaming up with Sennen Surfing Centre, helping to host events and regular clubs throughout the summer.

For example, starting this month a weekly Women’s Surfing Group will take place on a Friday evening, with a social get-together in the restaurant afterwards.

In the autumn, ‘The Inaugural’ surfing event will return; taking place over the course of several days, this will be a fun, family-friendly event with fringe activities on offer for spectators and non-surfers and a serious dimension for experienced surfers

Dave Muir of Sennen Surfing Centre can’t wait to get started, saying: “The restaurant provides a great base for groups and competitors to meet, and to warm up afterwards with a hot chocolate or some of Ben’s delicious fish and chips. The Surfing Centre also opened its new shop earlier this year, so we have everything learners and experienced surfers could possibly need to enjoy a great session.”

Ben and his team also plan to introduce an outside bar which will be the venue for regular barbeque and DJ nights – keeping the beach buzz going well into the night throughout the summer.

For early risers, Yoga on the Terrace will return to Ben Tunnicliffe Sennen Cove led by Julie Stone of Land’s End Yoga; Saturday morning classes begin next month.

The restaurant is also working with Bike Chain Ricci in Redruth to encourage cyclists of all types and abilities to visit the beach, with several events in the planning stages.

It’s Ben’s second season in residence at Sennen Cove and, as well as activities and events for the local community and visitors, he has won a loyal following for his tasty, wholesome food which makes the most of fresh local produce.

Ben will be at the helm in the kitchen all summer, overseeing a daily-changing menu which showcases local seafood but also includes meat and vegetarian dishes cooked with his signature style.

Food and drink events include Oyster Day in August, and food and wine matching experiences in collaboration with independent Cornish merchant Ellis Wharton Wines.
