Village Inn Is The Place To Be This Winter

Tom and Hollie Franklin Pryce, Landlords at The Coldstreamer Inn in Gulval, are gearing up for their first winter season, with an offering designed to attract local food lovers.

The couple hope that the pub in the picturesque village will be a busy social hub in the coming months; reasons to visit include special Italian Nights, early bird offers and hearty Sunday lunches (featuring twists such as Tandoori maple glazed beef) – as well as indulgent menus for the festive season.

coldstreamer-interior-medresHollie explained: “Like a lot of people, our family really looks forward to this time of year. It is quieter, and the change in season makes us dream of leisurely Sunday lunches and cosy fireside evenings, as well as festive celebrations with friends and family. Our winter offering at The Coldstreamer is designed around those sentiments.”

An early bird dining offer is available (two courses for £15 between 6pm and 7pm) to encourage locals to venture out during the darker months: “We want families to know they can come out and have a great meal without breaking the bank this close to Christmas,” explained Hollie.

The couple, who took up residence at The Coldstreamer at the start of the year, are also launching an Italian Night every Monday from the start of December to encourage footfall.

For the festive season, indulgence is the name of the game; the highlights of a three-course Christmas celebration menu include Whisky Cured Salmon, Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Parfait, Newlyn Hake with Crab Bisque, and Truffle Arancini with Celeriac Remoulade – as well as Turkey with all the trimmings.

Chef Tom steps up yet another gear for his New Year’s Eve set menu; five courses (£50ph including a glass of bubbles) featuring lamb, venison, crab and mackerel – all prepared with flair and attention to detail.

Tom, whose CV includes stints with the likes of Paul Ainsworth, Simon Rogan and Marco Pierre White – as well as several years as Head Chef at Porthminster Beach Café in St Ives – is developing a strong following at The Coldstreamer, adding to West Cornwall’s reputation as a leading food destination.

The Landlords are looking forward to welcoming regulars and new guests to the pub, which enjoys an idyllic location overlooking the church.
